My Records - Only Portable? Maybe…
Every now and then I test the Distance while on the move, i.e., portable.
Across the mountain, DB0LNR also worked and DB0UG too. One time it was about
70 km and the other time 126 km. On Sunday, July 13, 2025, I was directly
at DB0UG's Location (APRS-Track), at the Eggeturm, in Paderborn. I called DB0EN's
frequency several times, heard the signal, but no one answered.
No DL6UWE, no DN9WL, and no DF6DP either. But eventually, Gerd answered.
I've forgotten his call sign and confirmed a good connection to
DB0EN 131 km away. I was thrilled. So I wanted to test digital/DMR as well.
I switched the radio to DB0END, 439.275 MHz. Then I pressed PTT,
and a connection was established. But unfortunately, it wasn't DB0END,
but DB0CEL (DMR) 117 km away:
This connection is not really possible because of a large mountain (Barsinghausen) in the way.
I'll go there again soon and see if I can reach DB0CA in Wuppertal or other relay stations from
there. However, there are a lot of families there on Sundays, which is a bit annoying.
And all this at only 4W with the Hytera PD785 and the original, compact antenna!

Yes, I will continue this list! :-)
